Developing a great workplace is a process that is never fully complete. At Snowhotel Family, we want to continuously improve our workplace, and a key tool in this is the annual Great Place to Work (GPTW) employee survey. This year’s survey was conducted in April, and based on its results, we have renewed our Great Place to Work™ certification. The certification is awarded to a company in recognition of satisfied employees and a positive work culture. This is the third consecutive time our company has received this recognition.
GPTW is the world’s leading expert in workplace culture, employee experience, and leadership. The data from the survey is very important to us, as we want to continuously improve and earn the certification in the future as well.
Overall, a really great place to work
The survey includes 60 statements, which employees evaluate on a scale from “almost never true” to “almost always true.” This year, 75 of our employees responded, and an impressive 99% felt that Snowhotel Family is overall a really great place to work. The corresponding figure in a typical Finnish company is 38%.
In the results, 97% responded “almost always true” to statements such as that management understands that human errors can occur at work, that new employees feel welcome when joining the organization, and that they are proud to work for us. It is also particularly encouraging that statements related to communication and community spirit scored highly in the results, as these are generally the areas where workplaces need the most improvement.
A strong work community is built through continuous effort. We identify and acknowledge areas for improvement and actively respond to them. In the GPTW survey, a score above 65% for a statement is generally considered very good. Our lowest scores were 82% for the statement “those who deserve it advance in their careers here” and 84% for the statement “everyone has the opportunity to receive special recognition.” It is great that even our lowest scores are very high, but despite this, development work and maintaining the achieved workplace atmosphere will continue.
Improvements from last year
The results also show clear improvements compared to the previous survey. Previously, statements related to training “I am offered training or other opportunities to develop professionally” and celebrating special events “people here celebrate special events” had the lowest scores. Now both have improved compared to last year: celebrating has increased from 88% to 95%, and training opportunities from 73% to 85%.
Developing a good work community is a long-term process, and the work continues. We are proud to have received the certification and especially that as many as 30 statements had improved compared to the previous survey.
