Snowhotel Family has once again achieved excellent results in the Great Place to Work employee survey. In last year’s survey, we ranked as the fourth best workplace in Finland in the category of medium-sized companies. At the same time, we were the highest-ranked workplace in Lapland and the best-performing employer in the entire tourism industry. Developing a strong workplace community is a long-term process, and this work continues.
We conduct an employee survey annually with Great Place to Work (GPTW), the world’s leading authority on workplace culture, employee experience, and leadership. The data gained from the survey is extremely important to us, as we aim to remain one of the best workplaces also in the future.
“Overall, the results were truly excellent, and there were no significant changes compared to the previous year. As many as 95% of respondents feel that this is an outstanding workplace overall,” rejoices HR Manager Suvi Ristiluoma.
Equal treatment and trust as key strengths
The excellent results are reflected across multiple metrics. Out of more than sixty statements, 43 scored over 90 percent, with the target being 100 percent. A full 100 % of respondents feel that people are treated equally at the workplace regardless of gender or age, and that employees adapt quickly to changes required for the organization’s success. Meanwhile, 97 % feel that management understands the possibility of human error at work.
A strong workplace community is built through continuous development. Areas for improvement are identified and addressed actively.
“Based on last year’s results, we have developed our internal communication and increased the number of team meetings. We have also succeeded in celebrating special events and successes more often,” Ristiluoma explains.
In the GPTW survey, a result above 65% is already considered good. Our lowest-scoring area concerned the availability of training: 73 % of respondents felt that they are offered training or other opportunities to develop their professional skills. Participation in management decision-making and opportunities to influence decisions received a score of 82 %.
“We have reviewed the results together with our personnel and communicated especially clearly about the areas we will focus on developing based on the survey,” Ristiluoma summarizes.
Several other companies from Lapland are also included on the list, which is fantastic. We are proud to be part of this group, working together to make workplaces in the Lapland tourism industry the best in the country.
