Snowhotel Family has been named the best workplace in Lapland in the medium-sized companies category of the regional “Best Workplace in Lapland” competition. The competition was organized by the Lapland Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with other regional partners.
“We’ve always had a strong commitment to being a good place to work, and it’s something we’ve worked hard for over the years. The Snowhotel Family brand was created three years ago to bring our three locations together. At the same time, we set ourselves the goal of boldly showing that we are the best workplace in Lapland’s travel industry. In our marketing, this soon became simply Lapland’s Best Workplace,” says Heidi Haavikko, entrepreneur at Snowhotel Family.
“In recent years, this vision has been backed up by excellent results in the international Great Place to Work employee survey. It feels great to now have further recognition by winning a competition specifically looking for the best workplaces in Lapland,” she continues.
A seasonal work community is built again every year
The competition jury praised Snowhotel Family for maintaining a strong sense of togetherness through a fast-paced working environment and continued growth. According to the jury, the workplace culture is built on genuine care for one another, as well as a relaxed and fair atmosphere.
Maintaining a strong work community year after year is not something that can be taken for granted in the travel industry, where seasonal work means the team changes partly every year. At Snowhotel Family, a good team spirit is built above all through the way people work together every day. A strong sense of community is one of our key values, and new employees become part of this culture while also helping to shape it for the future.
“This special recognition belongs to all of our company’s employees, because the spirit of the workplace is created together,” says Haavikko.
There are many great workplaces in Lapland
It is especially encouraging to see this competition, now held for the first time, highlighting workplaces in Lapland from a positive perspective at a time when workplaces in the region, particularly in the travel industry, are often discussed in a negative light. There are, however, many great workplaces across Lapland where employers care about their employees’ well-being and are committed to doing things right.
We are also especially happy that two companies from the travel industry made it to the final. Alongside Snowhotel Family, Apukka Resort reached the final and received a special mention from the jury. It is significant that, together, we can also highlight the positive side of the travel industry as an employer.
“It’s great that a competition like this gives visibility to good working life and the companies building it. We’ll continue doing our part to make sure our employees feel good about working with us in the future too,” Haavikko concludes.
