At Snowhotel Family, responsibility and doing things the right way have always been our top priorities. We are a family-owned company from Rovaniemi that operates in compliance with laws and general norms. However, despite all precautionary measures, we now must inform you that our Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos hotel system has been subject to a data breach.
According to the information we have received, an external party has successfully created a fraudulent website, which allowed them to bypass even two-factor authentication and gain unauthorized access to our hotel system. Unfortunately, this has led to the external party obtaining customer booking information from the period of October 9, 2024, to November 30, 2025.
We are deeply sorry for what has happened, and we sincerely apologize to all our customers and partners for any potential worry or distress this may have caused.
We have taken immediate action to improve our security, reported the incident to authorities such as the Data Protection Ombudsman, the National Cyber Security Centre, and the police, and contacted all customers potentially affected by the data breach. Among other steps, we have reviewed and updated our systems to ensure their security, enhanced internal communication to emphasize the importance of cybersecurity in daily operations, and hired a cybersecurity expert to assist in investigating the matter and further developing our security. Additionally, we will provide further cybersecurity training to our staff. We are doing everything in our power to ensure that this will not happen again.
Sharing this incident openly with other local tourism companies, including through collaboration with Visit Rovaniemi, has also been important to us.
