In April 2025, we conducted our second Great Place to Work employee survey at Snowhotel Family. Out of those who responded, 95 % believe our company is overall a really great place to work. In a typical Finnish company, this figure is 38 %. Last year, our results placed us as the third-best workplace in Finland in the medium-sized companies category, but our work to keep improving our community continues.
Every year, we run an employee survey to gather feedback about our work community and learn where we can do better. This year, we carried out the survey for the second time with Great Place to Work (GPTW), the world’s leading expert in workplace culture, employee experience, and leadership. A total of 66 employees responded, giving us a response rate of 92%.
– This year’s results show that we’ve managed to improve the areas we focused on last year, but we’ve also found new things to develop, summarizes HR Manager Suvi Ristiluoma as she reviews the fresh results.
Our strength lies in our people
Our best results came from how we treat each other equally. Every single respondent (100%) feels that people here are treated equally regardless of gender. Additionally, 98% believe everyone is treated equally regardless of age or origin, and 97% feel that it’s okay to make mistakes here.
In GPTW surveys, a score above 65% is considered good. For us, the “weakest” result was about providing training opportunities: 73% of respondents feel we offer training and opportunities for professional development. Last year, this figure was 65%, so the steps we’ve taken are clearly paying off. Other areas for improvement, according to the survey, include involving employees in decision-making (82%) and encouraging a good work-life balance (85%).
– In a seasonal business like ours, where many employees work just a few months a year during the busiest time, organizing training is challenging. Still, we wanted to develop this area too, says Ristiluoma. During the season, we offered first aid and upselling training, as well as training to support leadership and working in a multicultural environment.
We renewed our Great Place to Work certification
Thanks to our employees’ satisfaction, we earned the Great Place to Work certification for the second year in a row.
Even our lowest scores are good and have improved since last year, but because we want to be the best workplace for everyone, our efforts to build an even better work community will continue.
